Wood Therapy 101: What Maderotherapy Actually Does for Your Body

Aug 13, 2026 · 1 min read

The first reaction most people have to our wood therapy tools is: "those look like they belong in a kitchen." Fair. But maderotherapy — massage performed with carved wooden instruments instead of hands alone — has become one of our most requested body treatments, and it's not about the tools looking unusual.

What's actually happening

Each tool is shaped for a specific area — rollers for larger muscle groups, smaller carved pieces for contouring around joints and tighter spaces. The wood lets your therapist apply firm, consistent pressure in a way that's harder to sustain with hands alone through a full session, working across muscle and connective tissue to support circulation and reduce the look of fluid retention.

What it feels like

Firm, but not painful — think deep tissue massage with a different texture. Most clients describe it as intense in a satisfying way, similar to a strong sports massage.

What people book it for

Body contouring and sculpting sessions, cellulite-focused work, general circulation and relaxation, and as a complement to a broader body treatment plan. It's a body treatment, not a medical procedure — we're upfront about that from the first consultation.

Is it a one-time thing?

Most people see the best results from a series rather than a single session — which is why we offer it as an 8-pack. Results build with consistency, the same way they would with any body treatment.
