Skincare Between Visits: The At-Home Routine We Actually Recommend
Aug 18, 2026 · 1 min read
A facial does a lot in an hour. What you do the other twenty-nine days matters just as much — and it's the question we get asked most at checkout: "what should I actually be using at home?"
Here's the routine we come back to for most clients, before we get specific to your skin.
Morning: protect
- Gentle cleanser — you're not removing a day of makeup and buildup, just refreshing
- A lightweight moisturizer suited to your skin type
- SPF, every day, regardless of weather. This is the one step we're not flexible on.
Evening: treat and repair
- A proper cleanse — this is the one that removes the day
- Your active ingredient, if you use one (retinol, a targeted serum), a few nights a week rather than every night when you're starting out
- A moisturizer slightly richer than your morning one
The step people skip that they shouldn't
Introducing new actives slowly. We see more irritation from "I started three new products the same week" than from almost anything else. One new product at a time, give it two weeks, then evaluate.
What we'll actually tell you
Generic routines are a starting point, not a prescription. During your facial, we'll look at what your skin is actually doing and tell you what to add, drop, or swap — no guessing required.
Due for a check-in? Book a facial and we'll help you build a routine around what your skin needs right now.
